Sponsor a R&D competition to foster innovative concepts in combined heat and power integrated with chemical unit operations. In the near-term, the objective is to commercialize a portfolio of innovative energy systems that will yield plant energy savings of 10-20 percent in a large share of chemical and other industrial facilities.

Technical committee held a day long planning meeting and numerous conference calls to refine the plan.

Most of the project proposals submitted to DOE were not on target. Develop new approach to reach the same objectives.
