Guidelines for Project Descriptions (i.e., Brief Proposals) and Workshop Presentations
Please prepare a one-page project description for each proposed project (maximum of five) according to the guidelines shown in the box below. After you register, you will be given directions on how to submit proposals in advance and where to read the proposals submitted by other participants. You may submit proposals until December 1, 2005. Copies of proposals submitted in advance will be distributed at the workshop. Please bring 40 copies of your proposals if you miss the cut-off date.

Each participant will have the opportunity to submit 5 proposals for collaboration. At the workshop, participants will deliver a 5-minute presentation on the proposals (no more than 5 minutes total - not 5 minutes per project). Time constraints will be strictly enforced and prohibit use of an overhead or LCD projector. Copies of proposals for your topic area will be provided.

Thank you in advance for following these guidelines. They are intended to help the workshop go smoothly so all participants can focus more time on identifying and forming viable collaborations.

Guidelines   Topic Area (name of break-out group)   Presenter (name, organization, and contact information): Title/Subject area Describe this in 15 words or less; the title will be used to identify your project and encourage participants to read the rest of the proposal. Please be clear and specific. Specific research proposed Competencies you or your organization can bring to the collaboration Examples of your relevant capabilities or experience Suggested contributions of potential partners to proposed project Intellectual property considerations, if any Types of partners who might be interested (e.g., manufacturer of polyethylene, supplier of materials to semiconductor industry)

To recap:

1. one page per proposal (i.e., project descriptions) - answer questions 1-7
2. submit proposals in advance to attract more attention to your idea
3. no more than 5 projects per person
4. name and contact information on each page
5. summarize title/subject area in 10-15 words
6. plan for the 5-minute presentation time limit
7. bring 40 copies of your 1-page proposals if you did not submit them by December 1, 2005
