Utility Energy Mapping and Benchmarking

 

Goal

To develop a tool to help identity the cost of all energy services supplied to a manufacturing plant; the amount of energy consumed by individual utility services; and opportunities to realize energy savings. Help companies map utility service energy consumption and identity energy efficiency improvement opportunities based on benchmarking practices.

Accomplishments

The Plant Energy Profiler for the Chemical Industry (ChemPEP Tool) that assesses plant-wide energy use and opportunities for energy savings is available online for free download.

Activities to Date

  • DuPont, Millennium, BASF, Rohm and Haas, and Reilly Industrial beta tested the tool.
  • Developed RFQ for software module and selected contractor to develop the software.
  • Held workshops to define the functionality of the PEP tool and conceptual framework.
